Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur remain in the race to secure the services of Spanish international Isco, according to reports from the Daily Mirror. Tottenham Hotspur have not quite been able to mount a Premier League title challenge this season but having said that, Spurs are not a million miles away from the top of the table in England’s top flight. To boost their title aspirations, Tottenham are expected to strengthen their squad during the upcoming January transfer window and names such as Ross Barkley and Wilfried Zaha have been linked with a move to White Hart Lane over the … [Read more...]

Messi leads our La Liga Team of the week

19th February 2015 by faremi

Champions Atletico Madrid suffered a huge setback in their quest to retain the title they won against all odds last season after a 2-0 loss away at Celta Vigo. It’s no surprise therefore that Celta’s key men headline this week’s best XI. … [Read more...]

Isco the shining light in a gloomy Real camp

19th February 2015 by paulj

Everyone seems to be pointing fingers with Real Madrid at the moment after the humiliation to city rivals Atletico, and this weekend’s win against Deportivo was no exception. One that has evaded the limelight in recent months is Isco, who has put in some fantastic performances since being brought into the side after injuries to Modric and Kroos. … [Read more...]

Five players who will bring Spain success again

9th September 2014 by tomw

Despite a disastrous World Cup, Spain played their first competitive game since failing miserably in Brazil by defending their European Championships crown. Vicente del Bosque fielded a side vastly different from the World Cup as retirements and injuries kept those who had represented Spain during their golden era out. There was a modicum of pressure on some of the players ahead of the home qualifier against Macedonia, especially as Spain had lost to France in a friendly beforehand, but the side stood up to the test in a half-empty Ciutat de Valencia stadium to win 5-1. Of those new players, … [Read more...]

La Liga players to watch out for this season

18th August 2014 by rebeccaa

With just over a week until the new La Liga campaign kicks off, let’s take a look at seven youngsters set to make their mark this season. Let’s start with an obvious one – it has to be World Cup wonder James Rodriguez. He dazzled us in Brazil with his inspired attacking and that stunning volley against Uruguay. A deserving winner of the Golden Boot and arguably a better Golden Ball candidate than Messi, Real Madrid’s £60 million signing is reason enough to tune in to Los Blancos’ opening game against Cordoba. … [Read more...]

World Cup star James is Madrid bound

20th July 2014 by tomw

Colombia and Monaco's young sensation James Rodriguez is reported to be arriving in Madrid imminently to sign for Los Blancos in a transfer that could become a world record fee. However the deal could hinge on the sale of one of Real's midfielders, with either Isco or Angel Di Maria being tipped as the ones to depart. According to reports in Spain and France, James' arrival looks to be a certainty, with all but the transfer fee to be decided, estimated to be around £80m. The youngster, 23, was asked whether he preferred Real Madrid or Barcelona following one of Colombia's matches at the World … [Read more...]

Isco could rejuvenate Spain in time for World Cup

30th September 2013 by tomw

Ignore all of the Gareth Bale hyperbole, the stand-out signing for Real Madrid this summer was 21 year-old Isco. The diminutive playmaker has been a revelation since signing from Malaga for roughly 1/3 of Bale's transfer fee but has eclipsed even Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu so far this season. He's so far managed 5 goals in his first 8 games for Madrid, just one less than Ronaldo at this point in the season with both contributing the same number of assists. But Isco didn't join to provide competition for Ronaldo - he came to revolutionise an ageing midfield with the Spanish flair … [Read more...]

1st July 2013 by andym

New Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti wasted little time making himself known at the Bernabeu this Thursday after landing Malaga midfielder Isco on a five-year deal right from under the noses of fellow suitors Manchester City. … [Read more...]

Pellegrini denies City link but reports suggest a move is imminent

13th May 2013 by tomw

Despite a weekend of mounting speculation, Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini has denied claims he has already signed a contract to become Manchester City's new manager, replacing Roberto Mancini who is expected to be sacked within the next few days. Pellegrini spoke after Malaga's 0-0 draw in the derby with Sevilla on Sunday and, contrary to the media reports, refused to give details of any links to the Manchester club. "I categorically deny that I am the new Manchester City manager," Pellegrini said on the official Malaga website. "Nothing has been signed and no agreement reached". … [Read more...]
