The 3 mid-week La Liga games not to miss

28th October 2019 by Ian Waterhouse

What a time to be alive as this week we get a double dose of La Liga action with mid-week and weekend games set to take place.

With so much La Liga action to choose from, we have selected the three mid-week games you simply won’t want to miss with so much at stake in such a hectic season.

Getafe v Granada – Thursday 31st Oct – 20.15

It feels slightly weird saying this, but Getafe have the honour of hosting league leaders Granada this weekend.

Yep, you heard me right, Granada.

Head coach Diego Martínez has worked miracles this season and guided his newly promoted charges to the summit of one of the biggest domestic leagues in the World with six wins from their opening ten games.

Many expect Granada to blow up at any moment but victory over Real Betis at the weekend proved Granada have what it takes to maintain a serious push for European football next season.

Getafe are happily going about their business in 11th and may be happy to take the draw.

Real Madrid v Leganes – Wednesday 30th Oct – 20.15

The spotlight has to be on Real Madrid as Zinedine Zindane’s men simply cannot get firing.

Defeat to Real Mallorca in their last La Liga outing heaped more pressure on Zidane and although they have a game in hand on a large chunk of their rivals, it is clear that time is running out for Zidane to turn things around.

Three-point against a Leganes side propping up the table should be a sure thing but with Real right now, no one is quite sure of anything.

Real Sociedad v Levante – Wednesday 30th Oct – 18.00

I feel abit sorry for Sociedad, in any other season we would be raving about how well they are doing having broken into the top three.

However, Granada have stolen a majority of their limelight but that shouldn’t detract from the fine job Imanol Alguacil is doing at the helm.

Six wins and a draw from their opening ten games has propelled regular mid table Sociedad into European contenders and as they prepare to face Levante, one would do well to keep a sharp eye on them as the season progresses.
