Liverpool have made some excellent signings this summer and it seems they are all set to crown their business during the transfer window with the signing of Real Madrid star Asier Illarramendi, according to reports by Spanish website Fichajes.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is apparently a big fan of the Spanish midfielder who has found himself out of favour at the Santiago Bernabau as he made only 10 starts in Real Madrid’s league campaign in 2014-15.
The reports further state that Liverpool are preparing a bid worth £15.3 million and the player is apparently free to go if that sort of a bid is lodged.
Liverpool have missed a cultured defensive presence at the heart of their midfield for quite a while and although players such as Emre Can are capable of adapting to this role, a player of the calibre of Illarremendi would definitely be an upgrade that would give the midfield some world class pedigree.
I’m always suspicious when after several days of rumours we’re still at the stage of ‘preparing’ a bid. If the club were actually interested they would just make a bid- it doesn’t take that long to do. So I doubt there is anything at all in this rumour….
