Muller has been influential in Bayern Munich’s rise to the top of European football. The perfect foil to Franck Ribery, he has picked up 52 goals in 150 appearances for them. This season has been Muller’s best to date. Bayern have continued to dominate the Bundesliga and Muller has been a huge factor in their success, scoring 7 goals in 16 league outings.
Carlo Ancelotti is already blessed with attacking flair at Madrid. Benzema, Ronaldo, Bale, Di Maria, Morata, and it is likely that Rooney will join that roster soon as well. So where would Muller fit in? My guess is that Madrid will offer Bayern manager Wolfgang Dremmler around €40M and Angel Di Maria.
Real Madrid like to get their man, but Muller is playing a canny game. “It’s not a bad feeling when you hear about interest from abroad”, he said, “however, at the moment there is no reason for me to leave Bayern Munich for another club.”
That ‘at the moment’ is telling. After the World Cup is over, Muller might find two hundred thousand reasons a week to move from Bavaria to the Bernabeu!
