Former Arsenal midfielder and World Cup winner Robert Pires is set to make a sensational return to the Premier League this week as he is ready to sign for Aston Villa. Pires now 37, last appeared in the Premier League four years ago under the healm of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and should he complete his move back to England this week it would be quite fitting for him to make his debut against his former club in over a week’s time. Pires has been the centre of a myriad of transfer speculation recently with Crawley Town among other clubs interested in the midfielder’s signature. Despite his ageing years, Aston Villa assistant Gary McAllister is confident of the contribution the Frenchman can bring to Villa Park.
