2nd December 2016 by Sarad Bade Shrestha

As quoted by Marca (via the Metro), Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has gone on to admit that he would be open to making a return back to former club Real Madrid. Ozil’s future at Arsenal is currently in doubt due to the fact that he has not yet signed an extension to his current deal at the Emirates Stadium which expires at the end of 2018. As a result, there is a strong possibility that Arsenal could be forced into selling Ozil next summer and a host of clubs would most certainly jump at the opportunity to sign the German superstar. Surprisingly, reports emerging out of Spain have claimed … [Read more...]

According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca, Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil is eyeing a move back to former club Real Madrid. Real Madrid took the surprising decision to allow Mesut Ozil to leave for Arsenal during the summer of 2013 and the transfer most certainly raised a lot of eyebrows even though Los Blancos received a whopping £42.5 million in exchange for the German superstar. Ozil has since managed to establish himself as a key player for Arsenal over the past few seasons but there are doubts regarding his future at the Emirates Stadium at the moment due to the fact that he has … [Read more...]

Liverpool star in the same class as Ozil, Silva and Iniesta

29th January 2016 by sarads

Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has stated his belief that Liverpool attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino is as good as the trio of Mesut Ozil, David Silva and Andres Iniesta. Roberto Firmino endured a slow start to life at Liverpool since his £29million move from Hoffenheim over the summer but the 24-year old has found his feet at Anfield in recent weeks and has scored a respectable 5 goals in 20 Premier League appearances so far. Slowly but surely, Firmino is becoming an integral part of the Liverpool side and the attacking midfielder is sure to have a crucial role to play if indeed Liverpool … [Read more...]

Galactico-Gate for Bale and Özil on Deadline Day

3rd September 2013 by marks

There had been much hype and headlines this summer over Gareth Bale's protracted move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid. Not many doubted that the deal would actually take place, but the announcement of Gareth Bale's transfer to Real Madrid went tantalisingly down to the last day. The big surprise and story for the UK media on deadline day, however, was the late news that Mesut Özil would be moving in the opposite direction to Spurs great rivals Arsenal, for a club record fee of £42.4 million (interestingly, it is also the highest fee Madrid have ever received for a player). … [Read more...]

Disappointing European week for Spanish sides

20th April 2012 by tomw

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Valencia all lost in European competitions this week in a shocking few days for the Spanish league. On the plus side however, Atletico Madrid recorded a positive 4-2 victory but only at the expense of their La Liga rivals, Valencia. Beginning on Tuesday, Real Madrid slumped to defeat in Munich as Bayern scored a late winner to give them the advantage going into the second leg next Wednesday. Franck Ribery fired the hosts ahead in the first half but Mesut Ozil leveled the score just after half-time. Real seemed … [Read more...]

Barca’s Lack of Depth Gives Madrid a 7 Point Lead in Title Race

28th January 2012 by tomw

SkySports bosses would have been licking their lips earlier this evening at the prospect of both Real Madrid and Barcelona facing off against two teams in the bottom four of La Liga, especially without BBC’s weekly Match of the Day stealing homesick viewers; though the night disappointed those in search of plenty of goals. Just 4 came in total, all of which from the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning that one of the top two had to settle with a deadlocked 0-0. That team was Barcelona who fell 7 points behind leaders Real Madrid as Villarreal outfought their fatigued, injury stricken opponents and … [Read more...]

Barcelona Steal Plaudits in Exciting El Clasico

13th December 2011 by tomw

‘Underdogs’ Barcelona once again proved that Jose Mourinho has plenty more to do before he can finally overthrow the La Liga monarchy as his Real Madrid crumbled to a 3-1 defeat. Karim Benzema may have scored the quickest El Clasico goal after just 23 seconds but Barҫa scored 3 more to give Pep Guardiola and the Catalans the bragging rights once again through Alexis Sanchez, a deflected Xavi strike and a Cesc Fabregas header; yet the result could have been quite different had Cristiano Ronaldo not missed two glorious opportunities for Real, the very reason Mourinho used as his excuse for … [Read more...]
