While Mesut Ozil endured a difficult start to life at Arsenal following his record breaking £42.3million move from Real Madrid a few seasons ago, the German superstar has really come to the fore during the current campaign and already has racked up an astonishing 13 assists so far this season.
Such stats prove that Ozil has arguably been the best creative midfielder in Europe during the current campaign and there were reports that Real Madrid were considering bringing back the 27-year old to the Santiago Bernabeu.
To stave off the interest from Madrid though, Arsenal have been quick to begin negotiations with Ozil regarding a new contract and now according to reports from Tutto Mercato Web, it can be revealed that the midfielder is set to put pen to paper on a lucrative deal with the Gunners worth a whopping £8.2million per year.
