With just over a week until the new La Liga campaign kicks off, let’s take a look at seven youngsters set to make their mark this season. Let’s start with an obvious one – it has to be World Cup wonder James Rodriguez. He dazzled us in Brazil with his inspired attacking and that stunning volley against Uruguay. A deserving winner of the Golden Boot and arguably a better Golden Ball candidate than Messi, Real Madrid’s £60 million signing is reason enough to tune in to Los Blancos’ opening game against Cordoba. … [Read more...]

Raul Jimenez signs for Atletico Madrid
Atletico Madrid are in need of strengthening their attack and Raul Jimenez may be the last piece Simeone needs for his new look attack. The departures of Diego Costa and Adrian Lopez this off season have left Atletico without two key attacking players that played a vital role in their La Liga championship run. Simeone has already signed Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich and Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad to supplement his team’s attack. Both players are great signings and no doubt will provide goals all throughout the season. ‘El Cholo’ is looking to add one more striker to the fold and … [Read more...]

Barcelona fans will have awoken to the news this morning that goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen injured his back in a training session on Monday afternoon. Valencia’s lack of identity
Only three seasons ago Valencia CF was unanimously viewed as being the third foremost powerhouse in Spanish football. Unfortunately the combination of an absence of romanticism at the Mestella, coupled with serious financial woes, resulted in La Liga's "big two" expanding irrevocably. Furthermore sides such as Atletico Madrid, Bilbao and Sevilla have all overtaken Valencia domestically and in European competition thus stripping Los Che of its prestige. … [Read more...]

Newcastle United vs Real Sociedad: Match Report
Goals and clear-cut opportunities were certainly not the order of the day at a damp and drizzly St James' Park on Sunday afternoon as Newcastle United and Real Sociedad played out a pre-season friendly ending in a 1-0 victory for the home side. For Newcastle, the fixture was the final opportunity to fine-tune any areas of their game in which they were lacking before kicking off their Barclays Premier League season at home to Manchester City in one week's time. For Real Sociedad, the game was still part of building match fitness and avoiding injury to key players, with their season beginning … [Read more...]
