Luka Modric move to Real Madrid close to completion

30th July 2012 by andym

This summer’s biggest football soap opera – Luka Modric’s proposed move to Real Madrid, looks to have taken another exciting turn this afternoon as sources in Croatia have confirmed that the deal which would see Tottenham Hotspur’s Luka Modric move to La Liga champions Real Madrid is ready to take place.

Zoran Mamic, director of football for Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb has told his local Croatian newspaper ‘Sportske’ that Luka Modric can now be considered Real Madrid’s latest signing for a reported fee of almost €45 million.

Just yesterday, Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Real Madrid were unwilling to pay the rumoured €40 million asking price for Modric however should the statement made by Mamic be correct, this would mean Madrid have paid nearly €5 million over the alleged asking price for the Croatian international.

From this transfer deal almost €3 million of the proposed fee would be owed to Dinamo Zagreb due to a sell on clause in Modric’s contract.

Mamic wants a cut of the deal as his son is Modric’s agent. I wonder if Mamic will end up with egg on his face. Personally most Spurs fans cant wait for the ugly little Craotian rat to disappear from White Hart Lane, the sooner the better.

To be honest Ray I think it’s a great deal for Spurs. Luka Modric is no better than what Real Madrid have already got in midfield and that deal means €45 million euros for Spurs that can be reinvested in better players.

Reinvest in better players?? Have you ever seen Modric play? He is world class, they are not many better players on the planet and those few that do exist are not for sale

Mojo his talent is irrelevant, it’s clear that he doesn’t want to be at the club anymore so why keep him there? He may be world class but he won’t play that way if his heart’s not in it.

Modric will not be leaving WHL – from one who knows. Madrid will not pay the asking price. End of story!

gr8! finally – get lost luka : ) ..just look at 30m berba, he may have won stuff by not playing, but he’s a 30m flop that galatasary wont even bid 5m for, grass isnt always greener.

we should give all this money straight to porto for hulk, and give him the chance to link up with his good mate AVB.

would love to see us line up like this eventually if we can get rid of the dead wood.

    Attack – 3 Prong
Adebeyour 6m (Leandro Damaio 22m) – Lone Striker
Bale (Dos Santos) LW + Hulk 33m (Lennon) RW

    Attacking MF behind Striker
    Sigurdsson (Van der Vaart)

    Central MF 2 Positions

    Ball playing MF
    Moutinho 22m (Huddelstone)

    Tackling MF
    Sandro (Parker)

    Defence
    LB Akotto (Fryers, Vertongen)
    RB Walker (Naughton, Kaboul)
Central Def – Vertongen (Dawson), Kaboul (Caulker) Hudd + keep gallas for exp and he can play every defensive outfield position

    Goalie
    Lloris 13m
    Friedel

96m outlay on transfers of the above

    incoming
    Defoe 11m
    Modric 35m
    Pienaar 5m
    Jenas 3m
    Livermore 5m
    Rose 5m
    Bentley 3m
    Bassong 4m
    Gomes 3m

    84m incoming transfers

    Net outlay -12m : ))

Real life isn’t as easy as FM, Matty. Although I admire the idea. Once we sell Luka (or should that be “if”?) then every club in Europe knows we have top dollar to play with, so every price-tag will go up.

I can see Modric leaving, Mout in – (hopefully Damaio) alongside Ade too. I don’t see the Hulk transfer coming off as he’s way over-priced compared to his actual quality. Lloris would be nice but the transfer window isn’t as easy as you make it sound.

I take your point spurspanol but we seem to be offering more wages now, adebayour should happen eventually, modric will go and give us a hefty sum to play with and hulk is known to have a good relationship with avb, levy will back him and im sure will want a marquee signing and hopefully chelsea may calm down a bit as they have spent alot recently on hazard, oscar, marin, moses is going there too and hulk isnt similiar to drogba at all so it could be possible as long as they dont bid and man city seem to want rvp and have so many players, i seriously think it could come off. moutinho aswell both players for 60M i think porto would accept 60m. (we sell defoe, modric, pienaar = 50m) its just the rest of the dead wood I think we may struggle to shift
        Jenas 3m
        Livermore 5m
        Rose 5m
        Bentley 3m
        Bassong 4m
        Gomes 3m

would love to get damiao if our special arrangement actually exists!! internacional actually seem happy to sell when decent money is waved at them as with oscar – also we have a friend of his in sandro and the manager avb can speak to him in portuguese, so could happen but we need qpr, west ham, villa to put some bids in for the rest of our average squad. then maybe.

LOL at those valuations. Given the contracts they are on, we literally couldn’t give any of those players away (with the exception of Livermore and rose – no idea why you’d want rid of them)

Jenas has a year left on his deal and is seen as a useful squad player (he was up until his injury, filling in nicely for a change). We won’t get 3M and I think AVB will keep him to fill in the gaps. Livermore won’t and shouldn’t be sold. A hard-working midfielder who stepped up last year and was an able deputy to both Sandro and Parker. Rose, 5M, is a big stretch. I can see him going if an offer came in but as is the norm these days, the best you could hope for would be a loan with a view to a permanment deal – around 4M (in a year’s time). We’ve tried to get rid of Bentley for three seasons now without any luck. His wages are big and his form has been woeful. If he sign anyone in his position I can see him being loaned out with a view to a permanment deal (so again, money a year away at best). Bassong’s confidence is rock-bottom and I can’t see anyone being interested without loaning him first. And Gomes, if Carlo goes and Lloris doesn’t happen, is needed. A solid back-line in front of him should steady his nervousness and if not, then Brad is always there.
